Tuning firm Abt Sportline ups the Golf's performance

Tuning firm Abt Sportline has launched its 256bhp version of the Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk6.

Power is up from the standard GTI’s 208bhp and the same 2.0-litre engine is used. Abt has achieved the power upgrade by tweaking the car’s ECU and modifying the exhaust system.

The car is lowered by 30mm, while new springs and brakes are also fitted. Cosmetic changes include a four-pipe exhaust, LED lights, deeper Abt bumpers, sill extensions and a rear spoiler.

Buyers will also get the choice of 18-inch or 19-inch Abt alloy wheels. The interior is restyled with red accents on the instrument panel, dashboard, door trim and steering wheel.

Abt is also offering a second package for its Golf GTI, which boosts power to 296bhp and drops the 0-62mph time to six seconds.
