The third generation A8 is the car Audi hope will move the model towards being a credible alternative to the Mercedes S-Class and the BMW 7-series.

First introduced in 1994 to replace Audi's flagship V8, the A8 comes in long and short wheelbase variants.

Jamie Corstorphine drives the short wheelbase, diesel version.
