Sebastian Vettel has made it four out of five wins this season with victory in Barcelona
23 May 2011

Reigning champion Sebastian Vettel took his fourth victory of the Formula 1 season by just 0.6sec in the Spanish grand prix.

Lewis Hamilton kept pace with the Red Bull ace from lap 20, but despite all his efforts, was unable to clinch the top spot after all 66 laps.

See pics from the Spanish grand prix A strong start from Alonso saw the Spaniard sweeping from forth to first as Webber concentrated on keeping Vettel at bay. Alonso held his lead until his first pit stop on the 10th lap, but by his second stop on lap 19, his race victory was no longer in sight. With the chequered flag taken by Vettel, the only other drivers to finish on the same lap were Button in third - the second podium place for McLaren - some 35sec behind his team mate, and Webber, a further 12 seconds off the pace. Alonso, the only remaining Ferrari after Massa retired, was a lap behind in 5th.

Michael Schumacher got some of his “big joy” back thanks to a strong, point-scoring sixth place finish. Spanish grand prix result, 66 laps (all timings unofficial)
