What to see at the 2009 Tokyo motor show

The Tokyo motor show opens its doors today and despite less manufacturers, with only Caterham, Lotus and Alpina representing the foreign brands, there is still plenty to see.

From the Japanese home team, there is not only a vast number of small eco cars but the long awaited unveiling of the V10-powered Lexus LF-A.

Nissan leads with its electric Leaf and showcase the Land Glider, a tiny, tilting electric tandem two-seater that the Japanese public are surely going to love. The eagerly-awaited CR-Z 1.5-litre hybrid coupe is on the Honda stand alongside the Skydeck, a smart three-row hybrid wagon concept which could one day be turned into a very viable S-Max rival.

Suzuki's is showing a plug-in Swift and the Alto, while Subaru has an upscale gullwing hybrid tourer concept called the Subaru Hybrid Tourer Concept.
