Emissions cheating software is reported to have been found in Audi A7 and A8 models, following the Volkswagen Group Dieselgate emissions scandal of 2015 and 2016. 

The software has been found to halve the amount of nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions until the steering wheel is turned more than 15deg, according to the German Transport Ministry. 

The Ministry has given Audi ten days to come up with a solution to the issue and a plan to refit the cars. Audi had already launched a recall for the 24,000 cars on Thursday. The affected A7 and A8 examples were built between 2009 and 2013, and around 14,000 of these were sold in Germany.

Audi was later accused of emissions cheating in its automatic gearbox and then accused of cheating emissions with the facelifted A3 by a German newspaper. 

Since then, the brand and the Volkswagen Group as a whole has shifted focus to low and zero-emissions cars, with Audi announcing only yesterday its plans for three new electric models within the next year, and the gradual electrification of its core range in the coming years.

Audi has released the following statement in relation to the findings: "The latest analyses of A7 and A8 automobiles of model years 2010 through 2013 with V6 and V8 engines certified according to the EU5 emission standard have revealed that in certain situations, NOx emissions are between 20% and 100% above the limit.

The reason is that in some situations, engine speed is unfavourably influenced by the transmission software, which can have a negative impact on the engine’s emissions. A recall is likely to start in July 2017. As only a software update will be installed, the time required for the work on the cars will be about 30 minutes.

Audi will continue to cooperate fully with the authorities and the Federal Motor Transport Authority. It apologises to its customers for the inconvenience and is doing everything to ensure that the anomalies it has discovered will be corrected as soon as possible."

Audi has been caught doing Volkswagen! The next addition of Oxford and Cambridge dictionaries will have Volkswagen as a synonym for corporate cheating and fraud. Joke aside lets hope that Audi checks this software update before applying it. The complaints with the EA189 engine updates have been widely reported affecting engine performance fuel consumption and Wear and tear costs. Premium?

If the fix is so easy and software only; how come Audi didn't do it correctly originally?
I suspect there is an economy or performance downside. Customers will carry the can and the onus is now on them to prove the discrepancy.
VAG is a real piece of work. (And I have one of their cars!)

A whole Facebook page of customers affected by fixes to the vehicles exsists and problems are huge for them, thousands of people with numerous issues following the fox.

It doesn't surprise me this has arisen, completely untrustworthy company VAG.

cars have dropped massively in quality over the years but this country is still mad for VAG

how many more "anomalies" it has yet to discover. They built the cars ffs, they must know which ones had these so called anomalies, why does it not come clean and admit which ones are affected, instead of waiting for others to discover them.

If VAG was a person, they would have been jailed for fraud on an epic scale.
