Land Rover’s Discovery TDV6 has won What Car? magazine’s prestigious Car of the Year 2005 award. At the annual awards ceremony held last Thursday, the new Land Rover beat off Skoda’s Octavia and Volkswagen’s Golf GTi to take overall honours as well as the gong for best large 4x4. Other winners included the Seat Ibiza (best supermini); the Toyota Avensis (best family car); BMW’s 525d (best executive); Mercedes-Benz SLK 200K (best roadster); and Porsche 911 Carrera (best performance car).
