Chevrolet has added a new diesel engine to its Cruze range.

The 123bhp 2.0-litre turbodiesel can propel the Cruze from 0-60mph in 10.3sec and on to a top speed of 122mph. Its CO2 emissions are 145g/km and it has combined fuel economy of 51.4mpg.

In entry-level S trim, the Cruze gets air-con, electronic stability control, a CD player, electric windows, central locking and heated door mirrors.

The higher-spec LS gets 16-inch alloy wheels, a chrome front grille surround, rear park assist, steering wheel audio controls and a leather-covered steering wheel and gearknob.

The latest mode costs from £13,745 in S trim and rises to £14,345 in LS trim. It is on sale now.

The Chevrolet Cruze raises the bar for Chevrolet, but not for rivals including Skoda, Hyundai or Kia

Compared to what Vauxhall think they are going to charge for a new Astra this looks likee the bargain of he century

20 September 2009

I agree about the prices for the new Astra. The Astra used to be the popular mainstay of the Vauxhall lineup but I think that's going to change with the new price range.

There are so many other good cars now out there for a lot less money.

One could say this new range has undergone an Astra-nomical price increase (It's sunday morning so bad puns can be forgiven... can't they?)
