These are reported to be the first pictures of the new Porsche Cayman, which is scheduled to be unveiled at the Los Angeles motor show today.

The images appear to show the second-generation Cayman, which shares its lightweight aluminium body, roomier cabin and upgraded six-cylinder engines with its sister car, the Porsche Boxster.

The base Cayman engine will be a 2.7-litre flat six, downsized from the 2.9 in today’s car. It’s expected to produce about 280bhp, up from 262bhp in the 2.9. The Cayman S will get a 3.4-litre flat six with about 330bhp, up from 315bhp in today’s car.

The new Cayman will be offered with a six-speed manual as standard and
an optional seven-speed,
dual-clutch auto gearbox.

Full technical details and official pictures are expected to be revealed around 8pm UK time tonight.

Is the Porsche Cayman a Boxster with a fixed roof or a mini 911?

We already KNOW what the new Cayman will look like, and what engines it will have, after all it's a boxster with a fixed bloody roof. Honestly if I was better at using Photoshop, I could have posted a similar picture and the same things mentioned in the article, then claim it's info from an insider.
So I'm not sure if Porsche pays for such articles, or do auto publications do this for free.

This is new?

*Google seaches the old one*

Oh, Ok, I see it now. They've moved the fog lights

This picture looks little more than a photoshop of the mk 1 model with the latest Boxster features grafted on. The poor attempt at the badge on the bonnet, the left wing mirror design and the reflection of that wing mirror on the side window suggests this is a fake. Still, i think we all know what the Cayman will look like anyway unless Porsche is planning a shock.

I think this is a good news.

I'm looking forward to the new Cayman, the current one is Porsche's best handling car, so this should be even better. But, I think the current gen version is better looking than this second-gen one.

Having been an owner of a 2007 model I have been eagerly awaiting this model, but I'm sorry to say I'm a little underwhelmed.

Anyone else thinking Peugeot RCZ back?

I'll be keeping mine a little longer....

I still think the car's looks remain unresolved.  I just don't rate it to look at.  I'd much sooner have (991) 911 Carrera (or even the Boxster).

What are Porsche thinking with the new cayman ? They have tried to make it look like the Panam.. it's so ugly I can't even type it's name
