Anything the football industry can do, the car industry can do just as blatantly, or so it would seem as far as the continuing Ferrari-isation of Lotus is concerned.
First, the Malaysian owners of Lotus persuaded Ferrari’s former marketing chief, Dany Bahar, to become Hethel’s new chief exec.
Then they lured away the Scuderia’s former F1 boss, Claudio Berro, to head up the Lotus Motorsport department.
Now they’ve pinched Ferrari’s former design chief, the fabulously named Mr Donato Coco, and made him Director of Design for Group Lotus.
How about Michael Schumacher as chief test driver, seeing as how it is taking him so long to put his autograph on that Mercedes contract?
