The Lotus Evora GT430 Sport has been revealed as the fastest road-going car the Norfolk-based manufacturer has yet made.
With 424bhp on tap, the latest special-edition Lotus Evora has a top speed of 196mph. A peak torque output of 332lb ft helps the car reach 62mph from rest in 3.6sec, which is as fast as a Mercedes-AMG GT R.
To achieve this, Lotus has removed the aerodynamic bodywork of the standard GT430, bringing the Sport’s weight down to 1248kg, a reduction of 10kg.
The Evora GT430 Sport is one part of an extensive update to the GT430 range. The cars are also now available with automatic and manual gearboxes, Öhlins adjustable dampers, ventilated disc brakes, upgraded four-piston brake calipers and a Torsen limited-slip differential. Adjustable traction control, as seen elsewhere in the Lotus range, is also included.
The reduced amount of aero kit contributes to lessened downforce at the car’s maximum speed. The Evora GT430 produces 250kg at 190mph, while the Sport produces 100kg at 196mph.
Options include a six-speed automatic transmission - a £2600 extra - and £2000 wheel upgrades, taking the car to wider 10.5J rear wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres. Lotus also charges £3500 for Sparco seats bespoke to the GT430. Air-con is £1500, while a cup holder is £120.
The GT430 Sport is priced from £104,500 in the UK.
