Large SUVs have been growing with popularity both in urban and rural communities. The class king, the Range Rover, retains its well-deserved crown in this segment, but a number of other models - perhaps most notably the Kia Sorento - are all worthy of note and consideration.
But while demand is keeping new car discounts low, there are still plenty of deals to be had elsewhere. Here are some of the best new car deals and the best new car leasing deals.
Best new car deals - SUVs
Kia Sorento - The Korean company has slashed the price of its big SUV by £2000 across the range. The Sorento starts at £26,695, rising to £35,295. Kia is also offering 4.9 per cent finance across the range.
Mitsubishi L200 - Mitsubishi has reduced the price of upscale versions of its L200 pickup. Prices of the latest Warrior, Barbarian and Walkinshaw editions have been dropped by £400.
Land Rover Discovery - In the weeks before the launch of the 2014 model year Discovery, online car retailer New Car Discount is offering £4720 off the list price of the current car. The 3.0-litre SDV6 Luxury model is priced at £52,997.
Volkswagen Touareg - Another online retailer has cut £6502 from the list price of Volkswagen's flagship SUV. UK Car Discount is advertising a 3.0-litre V6 TDI R Line model for £39,993.
Best new car leasing deals
Mercedes-Benz GL-class - We found a high-spec GL350 BlueTEC AMG Sport model available for £542 per month over a two year personal contract from Contract Hire and Leasing, with an initial payment of £4978. Extra costs could be added, however, should you stray over the strict 10,000 mile per year limit.
New car deal of the week
Toyota Land Cruiser - First Vehicle Leasing is offering a 3.0-litre Land Cruiser in 4D specification for £616.74 a month on a three-year personal contract with a 10,000 mile cap.
