Currently reading: Brabus let loose on SLK

Standard MERC SLK 55 AMG not fast enough? Brabus might have the answer with this spectacular new SLK 6.1S.

The German tuner will tweak the roadster’s V8 and extend the capacity from 5.4 up to 6.1 litres, and adds lightweight pistons, higher-lift camshafts, new piston rods, a free-flowing exhaust and re-calibrated electronics to boost performance.

Power is up by a solid 85bhp and torque by 92lb ft – to 445bhp and 468lb ft. Acceleration is very much in the supercar league and Brabus claims the 0-62mph time is cut by 0.6sec to just 4.3sec. Top speed stands at 190mph.

The cost of the engine upgrade alone is a hefty £19,800, and Brabus has also developed a myriad of suspension, visual and interior modifications.
