Limited edition RX-8 celebrates 40 years of Mazda rotary engines

The Mazda Cosmo Sport was the first rotary-engined Mazda to go on sale, back in 1967, and Mazda is celebrating the anniversary by producing 400 units of a Limited Edition RX-8.The imaginitively named RX-8 40th Anniversary Limited Edition is on sale in the UK now, and will set you back £24,595 - £1,595 more than the range-topping 228bhp model that forms its basis. For that you get a choice of two unique paint colours, 18in alloys, blue-light fog lamps and a rear wing. You also get uprated Bilstein dampers, revised front suspension for a quieter ride, and all the extra luxuries expected of a limited model, including leather and alcantara seats, climate control and a Bose sound system.Mazda has sold 25,000 examples of its four-seat coupe in the UK to date, which was launched in 2003 and remains popular today, so expect the Anniversary Edition to sell well.
