Interior design of Skoda’s Kodiaq SUV has been shown two days before the production model arrives

The 2017 Skoda Kodiaq’s interior has been shown for the first time, two days ahead of the car’s full debut in Berlin.

The pictures confirm that the large SUV model, which will be available in five and seven-seat guises, features the latest Skoda Connect infotainment system, where controls for the car’s media, phone and sat-nav can be found.

The overall dash design is typical of Volkswagen Group products, but the Kodiaq does benefit from plusher-looking materials than many of its Skoda siblings, creating a more upmarket look.

The seats in the pictured car are wrapped in half leather and feature a ribbed design in the centre, suggesting this is a top-spec model. Images of the boot show two optional third-row seats that can be folded down flat into the car’s floor.

Skoda says the Kodiaq's interior offers class-leading space, due to the car's 4.7-metre length and 1.88-metre width. The most boot space is offered in the five-seat model, with 720 litres of storage space, increasing to 2065 litres when the rear seats are folded down.

More details and images of the whole car will be revealed on Autocar.co.uk this coming Thursday at 6pm.

The car's exterior has already been teased, and Autocar has sampled the car in prototype form – you can read about it here.

Our Verdict

Skoda Kodiaq

Skoda jumps into the SUV market with both feet — and seven seats, but can the Kodiaq win the people's hearts in an already congested SUV market?

They've managed to make it look like a Ssangyong! And it doesn't actually LOOK that upmarket to me... Hmmmm

Very generic VAG bland

It's a big 7 seat'er so surely there's room for bigger heater control buttons, crazy!

WOW - That's just a Volkswagen with a different badge - when will they learn that having every brand look the same inside is not working, people are starting to get really hacked off with it - And would you really want your £80k Audi look like a £9k VW ?

Completely agree, it isn't working at all, VAG have just become one of the biggest, most profitable car manufactures in the world by pure luck..

Agree with you 100% 5wheels

Looks good, distinctive enough from the two other brands. Really hope Skoda offer a good range of petrol autos for the UK market and don't hobble it with just diesels.

... yes, that's definitely a car's interior. And yet this post is both more imaginative and endearing than that... that errr.... ummmm.... amalgam of plastic.

God it's dull. Then again, I'm not in the market for one and I'm not the sort of guy they're targeting.

...but this interior shows absolutely zero design flair. To be fair to Skoda's designers, that is probably by order of VAG management, carefully managing their brands. Ten years ago, this would have looked reasonably fresh, but not now. I'm sure it'll be functional enough though.

But maybe it's just me. I don't entirely get the apparent popularity of the forthcoming Seat Ateca either. And I'm not anti SUV in particular.
