The week in one story

There can be no doubt about the best-looking new car on Autocar.co.uk in the last seven days - we fell in love with Volvo's chunky C30 the moment we saw it. And with a mildly-detuned Focus ST engine under the bonnet, we can't wait to drive it too.Elsewhere, BMW finally allowed journos behind the wheel of the Mk2 Mini and on first impressions, it seems they've managed to improve its refinement considerably. We also got behind the wheel of Subaru's Tribeca SUV - but were left wondering why they haven't got a diesel version.

Other new metal included the mildly-tweaked Hyundai Coupe and Citroen's C4 MPV, which was inadvertently leaked onto the 'net by someone selling a diecast model on eBay...

It was a strange week for off-the-wall stories, in fact. We saw a record time for a crossing of the English Channel in a car, brought you a tale of how 4700 Mazdas ended up at a 60-degree angle and suggested that a Scottish Popemobile could prove a bargain for an auction shopper.Online, Autocar's podcasts hit the top spot in the Games and Hobbies section of iTunes, and we released our biggest production to date - an exclusive 25-minute report on our bid to set a London Land Speed Record at the City Airport.

As for the next seven days, we're eagerly awaiting the first details of Audi's ultimate hot hatchback, the S3. Watch for pictures and info on Wednesday morning.
