Does British motor industry survivor Morgan still have a place in today’s market for new cars? It’s not a question I often consider but then it’s not often that I get to have a go in an Aero 8.

It’s clearly not beyond criticism, this car. And you can probably guess what most of them are. Then again, for a company that trades heavily on its heritage, it’s remarkably hi-tech this thing. It’s got a chassis construction that bears similarity to a Lotus Elise, a state of the art BMW V8 (which sounds great by the way) and now the crash protection that enables it to be sold in the US.

A company that is this forward-thinking deserves to succeed. Whether it’s your kind of car or not, there are plenty of people who want one in their lives. And the world’s a better place because it exists.
