Subaru is running this wild and hugely modified new shape Legacy in Japan’s 2009 Super GT series.
This is the works-supported ‘R&D Sport Legacy B4’ and it bowed this summer at Suzuka, ran again at Fuji Speedway this month and will next see Super GT track action at Autopolis in October.
Essentially an Impreza WRX STI underneath, albeit highly modified, this race-tune Legacy with silhouette body runs with the Japan-special 2.0-litre turbo flat four that’s air-restricted to 300 ps to allow it to run in the GT300 class of Super GT (Japan’s equivalent of the BTCC).
2009 is a toe-in-the-water exercise before a full three-year Super GT campaign kicks off in 2010. Some would say, meantime, that this is the best looking new Legacy, by quite some margin….
