This is Chrysler's refreshed Voyager MPV, which goes on sale on the 1st May. Inheriting the company's new family face introduced on the Crossfire, it also brings improved safety and a new powertrain to strengthen the vehicle's hand.

On the outside, the people-mover features a new nose treatment, grille and Chrysler's distinctively-shaped headlights. There are also revised mouldings running down the Voyager's flanks, as well as new wheel covers and alloys that distinguish the car.

Inside, a full length side curtain airbag now insures better protection for passengers in all three rows of seats. Chrysler also claim a better-built cabin in which rattles and other unseemly noises are 16 per cent less common.

And under the bonnet, there's a new 2.8-litre common-rail diesel offered in both the Voyager and its longer-wheelbase sibling, the Grand Voyager. Teamed with a four-speed automatic transmission, this adds to the economy and driveability offered by Chrysler's Galaxy-rival, the American company claims.

With new 2.8-litre diesel power, the Voyagers range from £23,190 for the standard LX to £31,290 for the Limited XS Grand- version. Otherwise prices stay as they were, meaning an entry-level 2.4-litre Voyager SE costs £18,495, and a flagship Grand Voyager 3.3 Limited XS £32,020.
