Aston back for more 24hr action

Aston Martin boss Dr Ulrich Bez is taking his firm back to 24hr racing - and he's getting behind the wheel himself again.

Bez will form a quarter of the driving team in the production-standard N24 V8 Vantage racer in the 24-Hour race of Bahrain on 15-16 December. The entry is part of Aston's development programme for the car, which is standard bar a roll cage, racing fuel tank and fire extinguisher, racing seat and built-in air jacks.

Aston hopes to deliver the car to customers in 2007. Because it can easily be made road-legal, owners can, in theory, drive it to and from the race meeting.

Bez will be accompanied by Chris Porritt, Aston's Vehicle Engineering Manager, journalist Horst von Saurma and development driver Wolfgang Schuhbauer. The same line-up finished 24th overall at the Nurburgring 24 Hours in June.
