The Ibiza capable of 74.3 mpg and 99g/km of CO2

The fight to produce ever more efficient cars continues with the Seat Ibiza Ecomotive.Revealed today at Frankfurt, the Ecomotive uses the same technology as the frugal Volkswagen Polo Bluemotion 1, which Autocar reported on recently.Powered by the 1.4-litre TDi engine, the Seat's efficiency is improved by a number of aerodynamic improvements, low friction tyres and a few software tweaks. With a CO2 output of only 99g/km and an economy of 74.3mg combined, the Ecomotive easily escapes the London C-Charge due to begin next year, and should also cost only £85 to tax for twelve months.Though the Polo Bluemotion that brought us this technology first matches the Ibiza Ecomotive exactly on claimed statistics, the Ibiza will undercut the Polo's £11,995 list price by up to £1k when it arrives next year.
