Hot Ralliart version of Mitsubishi supermini Gets TWR performance treatment

The Mitsubishi Colt could soon get an extreme variant, thanks to a tie-up between the Japanese firm and tuner Tom Walkinshaw Racing.

A spokesman for Mitsubishi confirmed that TWR has been given a Mitsubishi Colt Ralliart for evaluation. “We’ve sent Tom Walkinshaw Racing a Colt Ralliart and told them to see what they can do with it to improve its performance and handling,” he said.

The Mitsubishi Colt Walkinshaw Performance, as it is likely to be called, will get revised suspension to lower the ride height and improve handling, as well as a striking new body kit.

The modifications will not extend to a power hike, however, so the TWR Mitsubishi Colt will retain the 1.5-litre 147bhp turbocharged engine found in the Mitsubishi Colt Ralliart.

The performance pack will cost around £2000, pushing the price for the extreme Mitsubishi Colt to around £14k. The kit is expected to be made available as a retro-fit option after its planned launch in the spring.
