Nice review by Sutcliffe

This was a much more balanced and even-handed review than the other Autocar review (which also appeared in the print version), which seemed loath to give credit to the X4 in any area, bar having the better engine.

That didn't look like an 'off road' course.

Not sure if the edit is doing your 'off road course' a disservice but I'd expect a Z4 could have managed that with similar ease. Besides these posh 4x4s with their heavy, over-engineered drive trains are generally shod on proper road tyres that leave them marooned at the roadside well below the ski resorts while ageing front wheel drive cars cruise past on snow chains. I don't really get these big ticket SUVs. Just buy a normal car FFS!
