New Mini's shock look - we reveal the photos they don't want you to see; Volkswagen Golf GTI road test; 20-page Goodwood Festival of Speed special

This week's Autocar magazine features the controversial new Mini, which was spied undisguised during a recent photoshoot. We have the full story of the next-gen car ahead of its official reveal, plus Mini's response to the pictures

Other reveals include a new Jaguar concept, which will be unveiled ahead of the Goodwood Festival of Speed. We have the full details in the magazine, although embargoes mean we can't mention them just yet. We also have full details of a new, extreme Caterham Seven, the new BMW i3 electric and hybrid city car, the BMW i8 hybrid supercar and Toyota's new platform strategy.

Our first drives star the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta on UK roads, a car that Top Gear television fans will be familiar with after last week's show, and which we give our verdict on. We also drive the Mercedes S-class S350, Volkswagen Golf BlueMotion, Renault Clio GT Line and Mercedes G63 AMG. The full road test is of the iconic Volkswagen Golf GTI; the conclusion is that it is very good - but not the class best.

Our features section is jam-packed with Goodwood Festival of Speed excitement, guaranteed to whet the appetite of anyone planning to go or enjoy the event from their armchair. Highlights include Andrew Frankel's pre-Festival drive of the Porsche 962 Le Mans winner, a look at Mexico's Lotus Elise, the Vühl 05, the full story of Peugeot's Pikes Peak domination, plus an interview with the man behind the Festival's classic poster artwork. We also take a look back at the first Festival, when crowd figures were about ten times what was expected.

Our long-term test fleet updates include a welcome for a very special car, the Morgan Plus 8, and a tale of fuel woe in or Jaguar XKR-S convertible. We also explain the delights of life with the Ford Fiesta ST.

In the week the Goodwood Festival of Speed celebrates the Porsche 911's 50th anniversary, our used car expert James Ruppert champions affordable Porsche 911s, telling you how to buy one without breaking the bank. As an alternative, our used buying guide celebrates the Nissan 370Z, now available from £14,000.

Autocar magazine is available through all good newsagents, and available to download from Zinio and the Apple iTunes store.

This is the same old design BMW stole from Land Rover in Gaydon (where the new generation mini was designed). Can't BMW be creative and design a Mini all by themselves?
