Mini says its new three-door Cooper SD hatchback is the most torquey model that the brand has ever sold.
The Cooper SD is driven by the new 2.0-litre four-cylinder TwinPower turbocharged engine and has 258lb ft available from just 1500rpm. Combined with 168bhp, it enables the SD to achieve a 0-62mph sprint time of 7.3sec while recording a combined fuel consumption figure of 68.9mpg alongside CO2 emissions of 109g/km.
When equipped with an optional six-speed automatic transmission, the 0-62mph sprint time drops to 7.2 seconds. Mini says the engine offers "both highly spontaneous power delivery as well as a precisely-controlled fuel supply."
The new Cooper SD arrives in the UK this month and has a base on-the-road price of £19,450.
