The Audi A3 cabriolet is now available with a 1.2-litre engine.
The 104bhp unit is the smallest petrol engine ever to power an Audi, but according to the manufacturer it matches the output of the 1.6 MPI unit it replaces.
Linked to a six-speed manual gearbox, the 1.2 TFSI travels from 0-62mph in 12.2 seconds and goes on to a top speed of 118mph – improvements of 0.3 seconds and 4mph over the 1.6 MPI.
It emits 132g/km – 35g/km less than the previous car - while also boosting average economy by 9.2mpg to 49.6mpg.
Prices start from £19,985 – £490 less than the model it replaces.

Re: Audi's smallest ever petrol engine
The 1.2 TSI could be 240bhp if highly boosted. This is a low boost turbo for 105bhp, and super low boost for economy for the 85bhp version. an sporty version of this engine i would estimate at 125bhp, or a flagship version with 160bhp but i doubt they would do that.
I think a 125bhp version could be used as an engine for the new Lupo GTi.
Re: Audi's smallest ever petrol engine
If that's correct then this is pretty impressive.
Highly boosted no doubt. It would be interesting to know the boost pressure. Maybe a twin scroll type turbo.
Figures look good, I wonder what the throttle response, turbo lag is like. Look forward to reading more on this.
Re: Audi's smallest ever petrol engine
175 Nm @1550rpm versus 148 Nm @3800rpm for the 1.6 MPI
