Latest promo video shows interior and exterior shots
28 January 2010

These are the first interior pictures of the new Audi A1, taken from the latest official teaser video for the car.

In addition to showing some of the interior, snapshots of the car's exterior are also visible, although some of them are pixelated.

During the video the Audi A1 is shown being driven in a warehouse by Bayern Munich football stars Bastian Schweinsteiger and Philipp Lahm.

The upmarket supermini, due to go on sale at the end of 2010, is likely to be priced from around £13,000 for the base three-door model, although the bulk of the range will retail at between £15,000 to £20,000.

The new A1 will share a lot of mechanicals with the recently launched VW Polo. Exact details are scarce, but it’s likely to be powered by a range of existing VW Group engines and some newly developed motors.

Audi sources say that the company is keen to offer A1 buyers a similar ownership experience to that of the Mini. That’s likely to include a wide range of options to personalise your car.

The company is also planning an all-in service package, designed to give a fixed ownership cost over three or five years.

Our Verdict

Audi A1

The A1 is a stylish, high quality and competent supermini, if a little expensive, but does it have the edge over the Mini hatch, Seat Ibiza and the Ford Fiesta?

I hate all these pathetic teaser pictures and videos Audi keep releasing about the A1. I hope it gets leaked soon so Audi can stop with all the childish teaser stuff.

Autocar. Please. They are not pictures. Hardly news worthy.

Also, your link above goes straight to pictures of the spied SL...

Considering the fact they were boasting about the interior quality, its quite bad that you can still see painted metal round the windows when the doors are shut. A niggly point perhaps, but it shows a lack of attention to detail nonetheless. And it would put me off buying a red one. I think the seat design looks cheap boring and ugly as well, while Im at it.

currently a happy owner of a Mitsubishi Shogun Pinin :)

Dear Autocar, Why did you publish these pictures - they are a total waste of time. May I suggest that someone at Haymarket suggests that the web-editor takes a James May style break! Yours, Concerned Reader

Boring grey men in boring grey clothes in a boring grey car interior.
Considering the fact they were boasting about the interior quality, its quite bad that you can still see painted metal round the windows when the doors are shut
I think you're right. Perception of quality is everything Audi can offer, and considering that both the Mini and the MiTo have frameless windows, Audi is losing the first match.

Schweinsteiger is not a boring grey man. If it was Beckham then okay. Schweinsteiger's squeeze, Sarah Brandner, makes Victoria Beckham look like Jo Brand.

Doesnt exactly do much to whet the appetite does it (which I thought might be the point of 'teaser' shots)?

Is it just me or does that seat trim look rather down-market?

odd then that Schwanzstucker makes Jo Brand look like Victoria Beckham. If only I had as many noughts in my bank as he does.
