Currently reading: Renault engagaes discount modus

The Renault Modus mini-MPV has only just hit showrooms but there isn’t going to be any delay in getting money off – main dealers and independent brokers are offering big discounts right now.Even though Renault salesmen have only just had their first taste of the car, every one we spoke too would talk about sizeable discounts. Even over the phone, one London dealership was promising ‘at least five per cent’ with the possibility of more if we were prepared to pay a visit in person. That adds up to at least £600 shaved from the list price of a £11,340 1.5 dCi 80 Dynamique. We reckon that could easily be extended to four figures, and other dealers hinted that they would be similarly generous. The only downside is that there are not many cars in the dealer system, so you could be forced to wait for your vehicle to be built, which currently means a six-week delay. At this early stage, however, independent brokers have the march on main dealers for discounts. Although few online dealers have the Modus listed, drivethedeal.com does have a UK-sourced 1.5 dCi 80 Dynamique for £10,096, a tidy £1244 saving. The same broker is currently selling the £10,079 1.4 Expression for £9000.Carfile manages an even bigger discount, selling the same diesel version for £9999 and the 1.4-litre petrol model for £8899. But given the generosity of Renault dealers, we’d be surprised if your local outlet doesn’t get close to matching these deals.
