Since VW canned the new retro Microbus, its designers clearly had an unfulfilled van fetish. This crazy concoction is the Atacama concept. It is based on the Crafter van, and could go into limited production if reaction is positive.
The Atacama's chunky looks are matched by a suitably rugged chassis, with a four-wheel-drive system.
According to VW's Harald Schomburg, "It emphasises the strikingly masculine features of the vehicle and is our idea of a Crafter off-road vehicle." Quite.
