Renault are looking at producing a Renaultsport version of the Clio estate

Clio estate unlikely to reach UK shores in any guise

The new Renault Clio estate could receive a Renaultsport makeover, exterior design chief Anthony Lo has revealed.

The popularity of the Clio estate in certain markets and the potential expansion of the Renaultsport-developed line-up makes a hot version of the baby load-lugger a realistic addition to the current three-strong Renaultsport range.

“It’s down to planning,” said Lo. “We could easily do it. We have all the bits and it’s something we’re looking at.”

The Clio estate is not currently destined for the UK, so a Renaultsport version would be highly unlikely to make it to UK shores if produced.

Okay, I know you could argue that this is a niche that Audi came up with but their products have always been decidedly, high end. Since the ST Focus though, there is now the Seat Leon and now potentially the Clio.

I must say though, I am glad that manufacturers are looking to do performance versions of their estate cars now, I've always had a soft spot for performance mixed with practicality.

It's all about the twisties........

Seems odd we won't be getting the estate version as judging by the amount of previous generation Clio estates on the road I thought they sold pretty well. Also, the larger proportions look much better suited to estate form than the regular 5 door hatch.

that's a great looking estate, shame it won't be coming to the UK. Surely there's a big enough market for a good looking cheapish estate car for Renault to fill with the Clio.

Why has it got such a large third side window?If you look closely, the actual aperture is only about 20cm2-the rest of the glass is just covering bodywork.At this car's design stage they obviously agreed to incorporate bloody pointless windows as the Clio hatch has a useless third side window too.Think I need to get out more.

Renault recently released photos of the new Clio Estate prior its launch. I find the car design very sleek and polished, and because of the elongated boot (only the wheelbase is the same as that of the Clio hatchback), the length of the car is said to increase to 4.2m. So, calculating the increase of the auto’s storage, it will mean about 50%! I have seen photos of the dashboard, and the accessories look very appealing. I could not wait for it to be launched here in the US, but I have read somewhere in the net, that the French car manufacturer is looking at launching in Europe soon. I have a close friend who is looking at doing a test drive once it is out in the market.
