BAC has revealed a new built-to-order version of its single-seat sports car, the BAC Mono.
Dubbed the Marine Edition, the special Mono has been modified to be stored aboard luxury yachts instead of on land. Modifications include a special anti-corrosion coating to protect against salty climates, as well as a strengthened chassis with lifting points for yacht cranes.
The Mono Marine Edition is powered by the same Mountune-developed 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine as the MY16 Mono, which made its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed earlier this year. The engine develops 305bhp and 227lb ft, allowing the Mono to sprint to 62mph in 2.8 seconds. The car has a top speed of 170mph and weighs 580kg.
Marine Edition models also come with a crane arm made from carbon fibre to aid loading, and a climate-controlled container environment.
Those extras mean the Mono's price has risen sharply from the £125,000 for the standard car, with the Marine Edition costing £500,000. BAC says it is currently able to produce four cars per month from its Liverpool factory.
