Pace up your Vauxhall

If you fancy turning up the heat on your Vauxhall, or even your VXR, Vauxhall has opened a VXR Performance Centre that sells tuning and styling modifications.

Suspension, braking and fuel systems on ordinary models can be enhanced by the Oxfordshire centre, which can also up the outputs of VXR Vauxhalls. Two examples quoted to Autocar were increasing the power of the 147bhp 1.9-litre diesel Astra to 197bhp for around £300, or upping the ante in the Astra VXR from 237bhp to 280bhp for around £600. In both cases the fuel remapping, which results in the power hikes, would most likely be accompanied by brake and suspension changes. The most basis brake and suspension upgrade costs around £660, the most expensive £1330. Work carried out will partly the manufacturer’s warranty. Triple Eight Engineering, which carries out the work, will cover the gap by honouring those sections of the warranty affected by the work done. Parts unaffected by any upgrade work will still be covered by the Vauxhall warranty. The centre can be contacted via vxr@tripleeight.co.uk.
