Ssangyong's big-but-cheap 4x4 gets a facelift with the Rexton II - but the underpinnings remain essentially unchanged.
The new front end features fresh headlights and bumpers. Inside, the Rexton II gets paddle-shift controls on its Mercedes-Benz transmission, a revised dashboard design, and the addition of an electrically adjustable seat on SX models. Rear cabin ventilation has also been improved, with individual air conditioning vents for passengers.
Under the skin, though, the Rexton II retains its 2.7-litre turbodiesel engine, still producing 163bhp. We suspect that while the new front end does give the car a neater look, its prime selling point will continue to be price rather than ultimate ability.
