A group led by former Ford executives has entered the bidding for Volvo, according to reports.
The Wall Street Journal says the group, called Crown consortium, is led by former Ford director Michael Dingman and former Ford and Chrysler executive Shamel Rushwin.
Although no figure has been put on Crown's bid, the paper reported that it was on a par with the bid being tabled by Chinese car maker Geely, which has been named as Ford's preferred bidder.
Unconfirmed stories say Geely is bidding $1.8 billion (£1.1bn) for Volvo.
