Jaguar has taken over 1000 orders for its XKR model, even though the car was only launched in the UK at the British motor show this morning.

The British firm unveiled three new cars at ExCeL, in fact - alongside the XKR were the XJR Portfolio, which takes details seen on the Concept Eight show car of last year and applies them to a production XJ, and the XJ long wheelbase diesel.

The XJR Portfolio is a conservative restyle of the regular model - aluminium side vents, enormous chrome exhausts and aggressive 20-inch wheels are the exterior highlights, while silver interior trim is the main change inside. It costs £62,040.

The XJ long wheelbase diesel was the third Jag at the party and PR executives were falling over themselves to point out that it is 350kg lighter than the long wheelbase version of the BMW 730d. It's available to order now, with prices starting at £46,770.
