German tuner issues pictures of its upcoming Astra kit
21 August 2009

The new Vauxhall Astra hasn't even been launched yet, but that hasn't stopped German tuning firm Irmscher developing a sports kit for the car.

So far, only pictures of the kit have leaked out. They show a front spoiler lip, side skirts, a new front grille and a rear bumper that makes room for four exhausts on the car.

It's not known what interior tweaks will be available, but expect aluminum pedals and other detailing. The car is also expected to have lowered suspension.

Irmscher has also also created a new alloy wheel design that is available in sizes from 18- 20-inches.

Full details of the kit will be released at the Frankfurt motor show.

Our Verdict

Vauxhall Astra 2009-2015

The Vauxhall Astra is one of the best-looking hatchbacks, but average dynamics and performance hamper its overall appeal

Well done Irmscher. Not even out yet and already there's a version for 2@'s.

must be another no news day.

agreed this is total drivel, a few bits of plastic and some metal pedals. If only Irmscher could be bothered to actually fettle the car it might be slightly more compelling. The editorial direction of showing dreary shots of tuner lash ups makes this site a pain sometimes.

Err, yes, but will Vauxhall even exist for this dolled up version of the Opel to bear its name?

Four exhaust outlets on a car with four cylinders is very silly...

How much do these tuning companies pay for advertising on Autocar? Basically, we just get this brochure guide to the car, no test drive or opinion.

Instead of buying dubz, a sports kit and what not, why don't people save that money for a decent car? You can spend £1000's on an Astra and it'll STILL be an Astra!

What car do you drive Topkat? I had you down as the archetypal Novaboy.

It's because they can pick up more teenage schoolgirls with a tricked-up Ashtray than with a "decent car".

Speaking of modified Astras, I think Cronin is Northbound drives one.
