Audi updates its range-topping A8 line-up for 2015 with a new trim level

Audi has revealed a new trim level for its range-topping A8.

The new A8 Sport, which will go on sale this summer, forms part of the updated MY16 A8 range and replaces the older Sport Executive specification.

Available in standard-wheelbase guise only, Sport models get lightly updated exterior treatments “reminiscent of the flagship S8”, as well as new side skirts, matrix LED headlights and 19in alloy wheels.

Inside, an upgraded sound system features alongside Audi’s connected infotainment system, which can act as a wi-fi hotspot on the move.

Elsewhere in the MY16 range, the LWB A8 continues to be powered by frugal petrol-electric hybrid powertrains, as well as the current 6.3-litre W12 and twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 options. Standard-wheelbase models get either a 3.0-litre V6 diesel - with power now boosted to 258bhp - or a 4.2-litre V8 diesel.

The MY16 Audi A8 range starts from £59,585. Prices for the A8 Sport start at £65,825 for the 3.0 TDI and rise to £76,435 for the 4.2 V8 TDI.

Audi A8

The Audi A8 is a highly capable and desirable luxury saloon that's very easy to live with, despite its flaws

I really dont get it. Why is there so much hatred for this marque by so many in here. I mean there are a massive number of Audi models on your roads in the UK and certainly here in Russia to defy this sick attitude. Auidi produce some really beautifully finished comfortable safe fast machines that stand out from the suppository shape design of just about every other model. Yes I have had two Audi's in the past the original Quattro and the same design Coupe GT both with 5 cyl engines both 100% reliable both covered over 200,000 plus K and gave me a smile every day. The recent models and especially this A8 Sport make me want to consider having one again. Only the price tag bothers me, so maybe I wait and get a decent 2nd hand job. Its a really lovely bit of kit, and those bashers need to close their mouths and go for a ride in one - FOR A WEEK and then come back and say something against it !

what's life without imagination
