Britain's round of the World Rally Championship is underway in Cardiff, with Sebastien Loeb and Mikko Hirvonen going head to head for the championship title.

In celebration of the event, autocar.co.uk has looked back through its photographic archives, pulling out the best photos from every year of the event from when the World Rally Championship for drivers formally began in 1979 onwards.
