Felipe Massa has said any chance of a return to Formula One this season is “really, really low”.
The Ferrari driver suffered a severe head injury in qualifying for the Hungarian grand prix earlier this year and he had been linked with a return for the season finale in Abu Dhabi.
He has been testing karts and has been in Ferrari’s simulator and he is also expected to test a 2007-spec Ferrari F1 car on Monday.
“I hope that I'll be back soon, but I also know that the best thing is that I'm coming back 100 per cent at the start of the next season,” Massa told a Ferrari web chat at Maranello.
“My dream would be to race in Abu Dhabi, but the possibility is really, really low.”

Re: Massa rules out 2009 return
Agreed 100% val. it would be crazy. Oh, next year is going to be interesting in so many ways!
Re: Massa rules out 2009 return
Better that Massa is fully fit for next season, than taking risks now.
Re: Massa rules out 2009 return
There is little to be gained by racing this year and a lot to be risked. Best that he gets fully fit over the winter, he will have a very tough time with Teflonso next to him...
