New B30 Biodiesel approved by PSA Peugeot-Citroen
16 July 2008

Morrisons has launched a new biodiesel that has been approved for use by PSA Peugeot-Citroen. Now available at more than 50 of the supermarket’s forecourts, Harvest B30 Biodiesel can be used to run any HDi-engined Peugeot or Citroen built since 1998 – estimated to be some 1.5 million – without any warranty or maintenance issues. B30 Biodiesel is made of 30 per cent biodiesel and 70 per cent standard diesel.“Our new B30 is 50 per cent recycled cooking oil and 50 per cent rapeseed oil, all UK-sourced,” says Morrisons' petrol director Phil Maud. “It's refined in Northumbria, so we're very happy with it from a sustainability point of view."In theory, B30 can also be used in PSA and Ford’s jointly-developed diesel engines, although Ford is yet to clarify whether it is prepared to offer the same warranty commitments as Peugeot and Citroen. In theory, B30 can also be used in PSA and Ford’s jointly-developed diesel engines – which are badged HDI by PSA and TDCI by Ford. Unfortunately for Morrisons’ plans, a Ford spokeman has told us that the company knows nothing about B30 and will be unable to offer warranty support on the engine or fuel system of any vehicle that has been fuelled with it.

These questions should be levelled at Morrisons, not Autocar.
