See Autocar's hi-res sideways special picture gallery of cars from the past decade

Some of the highlights include Bentleys doing burnouts, Astons and Jags 'having a moment' and a fantastic up-close action shot of the Ariel Atom.

It's not just supercars in the gallery, however. We've also included pictures of a Smart on two wheels and a Ford pick-up truck drifting around country roads.

Any early hire ( ;o) ) Smart would do that before ESP, remember approaching a roundabout on a trailing throttle, as it engaged a lower gear it did a very bizarre hop before the trust system disengaged the gear though not soon enough to not be alarming, also it stopped people wanting to follow you so close.

.................... mine went sideways all the way from Hull to Darlington the first day of the heavy snow. Once I got it home it's sat in the drive ever since. Have walked, taxied or stole my mum's car ever since.
