Currently reading: Vote for your picture of the year

Autocar’s photographers have captured some incredible images over the course of 2004, some enigmatic, some beautiful, some scarcely believable. This is your chance to vote for your favourite, in this year’s Picture of the Year competition.

We’ve rifled through the negatives and whittled down the long list of possibles to 10 of the most memorable shots. It was a tough brief, and we’ve had to be very selective, but we think we’ve come up with the definitive collection of the last 12 months’ photographic high-points, which you'll find in our gallery. We hope you agree.

Evidence of contributing editor David Vivian’s heroics in the psycho-Smart is included, likewise senior contributing writer Andrew Frankel’s icy sideways ride in Patrick Tambay’s Clio V6. Shots of the Ford GT, Noble M14 and Ferrari F430 succeed in flattering even the most attractive new metal we’ve featured. Land Rover’s Discovery amongst the sand dunes adds a stark, other-worldly setting into the mix, and we couldn’t leave out that picture of BMW’s M5 with its bovine best friend.
