Saab sale could be confirmed by GM later today

General Motors will hold a press conference at 4.30pm today to discuss "updates on GM business activities".

GM CEO Ed Whitacre will address media in Detroit, but no indication has been given by GM about what will be discussed at the press conference. An update on the future of Saab is one likley scenario after 48 hours of intense speculation regarding Saab's future and its hotly-tipped sale to Spyker.

The press conference could also be regarding the position of Whitacre himself as he is still only acting CEO after taking over from Fritz Henderson last year. Whitacre is favourite to land the job on a full time basis.

Stay tuned to Autocar later today for a report on key matters arising from the press conference.

Well, that was a waste of time, wasn't it? We need a SAAB SALE announcement, not 10 minutes of drivle about loving America!! Who's going to fall for that? Oh, I forgot, the American taxpayer, again! SELL SAAB, make money!

Thanks. I'm currently on Atlantic Time (Canada) so it'll be 12:30 for me. Just to confuse things :)
