Car makers are now even less likely to hit the UK government’s lofty ZEV mandate target for EV sales this year following a weak first quarter, the UK’s leading trade body has claimed.
So far this year, 176,698 new EVs have been sold, equating to 23.1% share of the UK’s new car parc. Despite being up on the 20.7% share recorded at the same point last year, the current figure is well below the 33% required by the ZEV mandate for 2026.
