Eco-roadster previews hybrid sports car

The covers have just come off the Honda OSM concept car at the London motor show. It’s a stunning-looking sleek machine, designed for exceptional aerodynamic efficiency according to the design team behind it. The OSM’s body is wide and low, with a heavily sculpted rear and a front end reminiscent of the CR-Z, with a low and wide air intake. Honda claims that the car has a very low drag coefficient. The latest concept's body shape and overall proportions are very realistic and are said by Honda insiders to resemble the production version of the CR-Z hybrid coupe. The OSM is similar in size and proportions to the second-generation Lotus Elan; the windscreen shape and rear wings are surprisingly similar. Honda claims the car has been designed to “couple sleek looks with exciting driving dynamics”.This is the fourth small hybrid sports car concept from Honda in two years. The Remix, CR-Z and Small Hybrid Sports Concept have all made appearances at recent motor shows, but only the CR-Z has been confirmed for production. All have been small, lightweight two-seaters with an emphasis on fuel efficiency and low emissions. Honda won’t rule out building the OSM in the future. If public reaction to the car is positive, the firm said it will “use the feedback to guide future developments”.
