25 June 2020 marks the 110th birthday of Alfa Romeo.

The Italian marque has a storied history and has made a host of celebrated models. As part of its rejuvenation in recent years as one of the jewels in the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles crown, Alfa reopened its museum in Arese. Located about 7 miles north of central Milan, the collection is spread over three floors and is a magnificent reminder of some great cars. These are the highlights of our visit:

Collection

The 69 road and race cars are split over three floors named 'Timeline', 'Beauty' and 'Speed'.

A.L.F.A. 24HP

The A.L.F.A. 24HP, launched in 1910, was the firm's first car. It had a 4.0-litre engine and 62mph top speed.

A.L.F.A. 15HP

The 24HP was followed up by the 15HP in 1911 with a less powerful 2.4-litre engine.

Alfa Romeo RL

The RL was Alfa's first car after World War 1. This Super Sport version is from 1925.

The advanced 6C 2300 B arrived in 1935 and is one of the firm's most famous grand tourers.

The 1996 Nuvola concept, which previewed Alfa's next generation of design under Walter de Silva. De Silva was head of the company’s design team between 1986 and 1999. He was head of Volkswagen group design between 2007 and 2015.
