BMW Logo
The Blue & White chequred roundel may well represent the flag of Bavaria but it also represents a propeller signifying that BMW also made aircraft engines.

It is true that the BMW logo is associated with a propeller but it appeared before they built aero engines. It was a convenient coincidence that the layout looked a bit like a propeller.

BMW propellor myth
The BMW badge does not represent a propellor. The Propellor is a complete and utter myth. It is only the Bavarian Flag. Thank you Autocar for getting this correct.

I enjoyed reading about the origin of some of those badges which I've seen countless of times without knowing what the derivation was. I was surprised not to see TVR though. Especially as it's one I do know.
