The second car from Spanish car maker, Aspid will weigh less than 1000kg and produce 450bhp

These are the first pictures of the Aspid GT-21 Invictus; the second car from the Spanish car maker. Aspid is targetting a sub-3.0sec 0-62mph time and a top speed in excess of 187mph.

The GT-21 Invictus will use a 450bhp BMW V8 to propel the lightweight GT. Aspid claims the car will weigh 990kg dry and says it will set new benchmarks for cornering ability. The same chassis design as used in the Aspid Super Sport will be employed. That platform weights 80kg.

Aspid’s second creation features similarly extreme styling to the Aspid Super Sport, and is the first GT to be designed with a semi-open wheel layout. It is positioned as a less compromised car than the Super Sport, with a 2+2 seating configuration and a more spacious cabin.

The car makes extensive use of aerospace-grade aluminium and composites and will be enginneered to allow customers to tailor the car to suit their driving style. No more than 250 models will be built a year, and sold through 20 dealers across Europe.

Like the Super Sport, the GT-21 Invictus will have most of the primary displays integrated into the steering wheel. The twin disc braking system will also be borrowed, which is said to offer performance comparable with carbon-ceramic brakes without the problem of them having to warm up.

Aspid hopes the project will create 200 jobs at a manufacturing site still to be chosen.
