These are the final seven shortlisted for the 2005 Car of the Year award. The winner, as selected by 58 of Europe’s top motoring journalists, will be announced at the Autocar Awards on 15 November, with the BMW 1-series, Citroën C4, Ford Focus, Peugeot 407, Renault Modus, Toyota Prius and Vauxhall Astra in the running. BMW is the only one of the seven never to have won in the past, while Renault has picked up the prize on five occasions. Last year’s winner was the Fiat Panda, ahead of the VW Golf and Mazda 3.
