The new Jaguar XF emerged top of the pile at the annual awards ceremony of our sister magazine What Car? last night, scooping two gongs from the magazine’s panel of judges – Best Executive Car and the coveted Car of the Year award for 2008.“The XF has it all,” said WC? editor Steve Fowler in presenting the award: “it looks fantastic and has a classy, futuristic interior that gives a real sense of occasion. On top of that it’s great to drive, whatever mood you’re in, and is a sound ownership proposition too.”Sixteen other awards were given out on the night, with Audi leading the field among manufacturers by collecting three of them – Best Coupe (for the TT), Best Performance Car (for the R8) and What Car?’s Security Award. A complete breakdown of the night’s award-winners is below.

Re: Jaguar XF scoops What Car? gong
I binned my WhatCar? subscription when they went from talking nonsense some of the time to almost all the time and I now don't care what they have to say.
As for that Jaguar, you can hand the XF all the awards you like and the front of it will still be uglier than a monkey's armpit. Given the company is about to be sold by Ford and bought by an Indian outfit best known as the manufacturer of horrid cheap clown cars, anyone looking for perceived pedigree is going to be better served by the Germans.
Speaking of such, we really need a new 7-Series because although it's ridiculously complex, not that pretty, and indistinguishable from its predecessor in terms of real world driving, the S320 CDI is still winning the luxury laurels. Bleh.
Re: Jaguar XF scoops What Car? gong
Suprise, suprise What Car votes...
a Jaguar (XF) car of the year
Jaguar XJ Executive car of the year..
LR Freelander 4x4 compact of the year
LR Discovery 4x4 SUV of the year
I just can't understand with everything What Car is suggesting, how could it could be that Ford are offloading both companies and no major automotive company has shown any interest in them!.
Could it be that in particular the XJ and Disco are not nearly as good as What Car claim?, don't get me wrong I'm not saying they are bad cars but are they class leaders??
