Addition of 1.7-litre diesel drops emissions to 139g/km of CO2

Vauxhall has launched a greener version of the Zafira MPV.

The Vauxhall Zafria Ecoflex is powered by a 108bhp 1.7-litre diesel engine with 192lb ft of torque, and gets taller gear ratios. It averages 53.3mpg and emits 139g/km of CO2; 0-60mph takes 12.6sec.

Those economy figures mean that the green Zafira falls into VED road tax band C (£120 per year), as well as dropping to 18 per cent benefit-in-kind company car tax.

Prices start from £17,310, £100 more than the equivalent 118bhp 1.9-litre diesel-powered model.

Buyers can also benefit from zero per cent finance packages, with five per cent cashback being offered by Vauxhall.

The 1.7-litre engine is new to the Zafira, but it is already sold in the Vauxhall Astra Ecoflex.
